Praise for Castaway Kid

Oh my Goodness! I don’t want to be redundant or unoriginal but, your story grabbed
my attention on the first page.
You are a miracle, your story is amazing and powerful because it shows us that God
can do all things… and will make a way out of no way!
At the end of the story when you got the news about Gigi, I was in that car with you
and Susan crying and holding on to you.

Oh boy, what a story! You are a living testimony.

I was crying holding you

As we read your book “Castaway Kid” we were deeply touched by the story.
The tragedy in life of many people is often unexplainable.
Even more so the victory of faith, hope and love overcoming these circumstances.
Thank you for writing this book.
We believe that many people in the countries of the former Soviet Union could
identify themselves with fate of the main character in the story and receive new hope
and faith to move in life to a new dimension.
For this purpose we would like to translate the book into Russian and distribute it in
the countries of the former Soviet Union.
Thank you for considering our request
Sincerely Yours
Johann

Deeply touched Russians

My book club read a very good book last month, Castaway Kid by R.B. Mitchell. The
book is his life story, a story of hope.
Our club was fortunate enough to have Mr Mitchell come to our book club as a
guest speaker. It was wonderful to sit and talk with him and find out how his book
came about.
If you have a chance I recommend you read Castaway Kid.
You will be touched if not changed.

Book Club Touched, Changed

I am a 28 year old college graduate woman who went into politics to change
the world.
I found it empty, shallow, self-serving, devoid of true conviction for anything
but “winning”
I called an older women who had been a long time positive influence to have
United
States

lunch and help me talk some things out.
When I finished, she reached into her tote bag and pulled out a copy of
Castaway Kid.
She said she felt led to give it to me after I called but didn't know why.
I have left politics, am working full time for an agency for at-risk kids. It is
grueling, difficult, few tangible success, but incredibly fulliling.
Castaway Kid changed my life, gave me a new mission.
Thank you.

Politics dropped as you changed my life

I heard you speak last year, bought Castaway Kid out of curiosity but no
real expectations.
WOW.
I am now full time in orphan care in Guyana and your issues are thier
issues, even if the details are different.
And “my orphans” aren’t white, but they listen intently when I read to them
Castaway Kid.
Thank you for being a voice of the unrescued.

Orhans of Color Understand Castaway Kid

This book made me stop what I was doing and count my blessings!
OMG! No one, I mean no one should ever have to live like this poor little boy lived.
This well-written memoir was so tragic and heart-rending I couldn’t help but shed a
few tears. Ultimately though, this amazing man triumphed over odds most people
could never dare to imagine.
A fabulously uplifting read!

A fabulously uplifting read!

I don’t read books. I am 65 and unitl your book had only ever read one book.
My brother begged me to read yours, knowing this. I don’t know why but before
page one was over I was you and couldn’t put this book down.
I am a simple man, work with my hands, met you when you spoke and tried to find
the words but couldn’t. I see others on this web are like me, so I will say what they say.
Thank you. Maybe that is enough.

65, Only 2nd book ever read

I am an English Literature major who works with at risk, inner city kids, and who is a
wanna be author who seems to have long time writer block.
Our agency heard about Castaway Kid and as some staff began to read, they couldn’;t
seem to help tell others we had to read this book.
I did not expect this. You grabbed me on page one and like a big dog dragging its owner
you wouldn’t let go of me and I finished my first read, my first read, in an astonishing 6
hours. I was exhausted, amazed, confused by my own emotionally powerful menage of
responses. You were me, I was you, you were my at-risk clients, they were you. OK, WOW
I too hope you sell millions of this book and change lives as you have already begun to
change mine.

6 consuming hours

I am a mixed race girl, babied earlier, gave baby up, in prison, now in halfway house,
angry, angry, angry at my druggie mother and her men.
My therapist said I had to read you book. I hate reading but I couldn’ stop.
You look so wrong to speak truth to someone like me.
I don”t know if I can do like you, but now I think it is at least possible. Thank you

You look wrong

Your experiences as a child and young adult left me emotionally disturbed and deeply
touched that words fail to express my feelings.
Page 149 (of the German edition entitled “Kind der Hoffnung” is a great encouragement to
be reminded that we have a loving heavenly Father who (is willing) to adopt us.
What a joy it is to experience the truth that learning to forgive will make us free to love and
to trust. May your book be a blessing to many.
