Your First Step Toward Real Change

A Tool From Someone Who's Actually Been There

When I was abandoned at age three and spent the next 14 years in an orphanage, nobody gave me a roadmap for how to rebuild a life. I had to create my own, step by painful step.

This chart isn’t theory. It’s not positive thinking wrapped in pretty packaging. It’s the real process I used to go from barely surviving to actually living, and many people have proven it works wherever you’re starting from.

What This Is NOT:

  • A quick fix promising overnight transformation
  • Abstract advice from someone who hasn’t lived through trauma
  • Another “just think positive” approach that ignores real pain

What This IS:

  • A practical tool for identifying what you need more of and what you need less of
  • A structure for breaking overwhelming change into manageable steps
  • A method for creating proof to yourself that change is possible

How This Chart Creates Change

For years, I’ve guided people through this exact exercise—from at-risk youth to adults stuck in cycles of defeat. The results speak for themselves when people:

  • Start with one manageable change instead of trying to transform everything at once
  • Identify what they need to let go of, not just what to add to their lives
  • Build confidence through small successes that prove bigger ones are possible
  • Create a visual record of progress that survives the inevitable hard days

This isn’t wishful thinking—it’s a practical method battle-tested through my own journey from orphanage to stability, and refined through years of sharing with others who needed a concrete path forward.

About Rob Mitchell

I was one of the last “lifers” in an American orphanage. Abandoned at age three, I spent 14 years living with other kids who weren’t friends but “co-survivors.” At 17, I left the orphanage homeless, angry, and convinced I was worthless.

Today, I’ve been married for 45 years, built a successful financial practice, and shared my story of transformation in my book “Castaway Kid,” which has been translated into 7 languages and reached over 300,000 readers worldwide.

I’m not an influencer with a perfect smile promising overnight success. I’m someone who found a path through the darkness and wants to shine a light for others still finding their way.
